New Law Coming Around to Imprison Watchers of Copyrighted Streaming Content

Basically, what's happening is, some big businesses got pissed about copyright infringement (or maybe they just want to leech more cash from us) and they went to Congress (or did they lobby?) about it, and now, a bill's churning through the legislative process as I type this for approval to enforce that anyone who streams copyrighted content more than ten times, or surpassing $2500 in production costs combined, will receive a jail sentence not more than five years. Here's a site striking against the bill, you can fill out your details in a letter on the right and have it sent to Congress.

And here's the bill's content, verbatim.

I doubt it'll be passed. Honestly, think about it... You're destroying several large businesses and potentially jailing a very large portion of the country's people. I can't see it being consistently enforced. I thought we were trying to make jobs, not destroy them... Unless you count building new jails all over the country as 'jobs', with all the offenders they'll try to imprison.

But there's always FEMA camps to turn to...
